I remember when BMW began offering the E46 M3 with a Competition Package. At the time it was a $4k premium that traded your hard earned money for larger brakes, a quicker steering ratio and a slightly stiffer suspension. Those who opted for the Competition package were also offered something special – Interlagos Blue. This dark blue/deep plum hue was only made available to those who ordered this sportier M3.
The interior also received some upgrades but the most notable was the Alcantara covered steering wheel. This suede like material added a nice feel to the subtle looking BMW interior. A cool thing with the instrument cluster of the E46 M3 is the tachometer actually has lights on it letting the driver know when the engine is warm enough to start reving it higher.
The package also upgraded the wheels to a mesh style that is much nicer than the stock 18″ and 19″ wheels that all other E46 M3s came with. At the time the Competition Package was released Europe already had access to the amazing M3 CSL. Although, we never received the CSL version the Carbon Fiber roof eventually made its way to the E92 platform.
This M3 was found on M3forums and seems to be in pretty clean condition. As listed it has 51k miles and is mostly stock save for an aftermarket Dinan exhaust. The price of $32.5k is considerably more than a M3 without this package would cost but given the limited numbers it will be a small price to pay for the Competition package.
From the owner:
I am selling my 2006 Interlagos Blue M3 Competition Package with Black
Leather Interior. Car is a six speed manual!!! This car is SUPER CLEAN and
has low miles (51,xxx) – See the photos for yourself!
The title is clear and in my name – I have it on hand and I also have a
clean CARFAX and a COMPLETE AND DOCUMENTED SERVICE HISTORY. I have
maintained this vehicle with an open checkbook. Oil changed every 6.5k miles
with Castrol 10w60. Valve adjustment, vanos bolt inspection, oil, belts, filters, brakes, were
just performed – the car runs flawlessly.
I am the second owner of this vehicle and purchased it in September of 2010.
Despite the fact that I am practically in love with this car, it is time to
move on to something with four doors!!!
This is a prime opportunity to own a pristine example of the ultimate
evolution of the e46 M3 sold in the United States.
