Super clean Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V

Not a lot of pictures are provided for this 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16V but this is the cleanest one I’ve come across for sale and want to feature it on my site.

190e23cosworth16v5Owned by the seller for the past 24 years, this factory DTM race car looks to be in immaculate shape and has really low miles for its age with just over 62k on the odometer.

190e23cosworth16v3The 190E 2.3 16V was built as a homologation model to compete in the German Touring Car Championships (DTM) with the rules stated that participating  race cars had to be based from a road going model. The street version used a detuned version of the engine but it was still built by the renowned British engine company Cosworth and this 190e is one of the most well known MBs of the 1980s.

190e23cosworth16v4The engine is a 2.3L 16 valve four cylinder that makes roughly 185hp and has a unique cylinder head that was sourced from Cosworth and uses technology they developed from their F1 engines.

190e23cosworth16v2The body kit of the 190E 2.3 16V is my favorite part of the car and its boxy looks are retro ’80s similar to its chief rival the BMW E30 M3.

190e23cosworth16v1I really love these older Mercedes and I’m suprised that the value of them hasn’t exploded like earlier M3s or Porsches of that era. Even though this one is on the high side of 190E 2.3 16V I’ve seen, its also the cleanest and seems reasonable at a $17k asking price. If you’re interested the car is located in Northern California.
